5 steps to feeling better - Restore an Alkaline Body ph

Step 1: Restore an Alkaline Body pH

TESTING URINE pH
The first goal on the way to great health is to restore the body’s pH to the alkaline range. Almost all chronic illness takes place in a body that has become acidic due to the gradual depletion of its mineral reserves. The state of the body’s acid/alkaline balance can be easily measured by testing the urine using pH paper. If the first morning urine pH is acidic or alkaline ( the first morning urine is defined as the first urination after 5 AM)
TESTING THE URINE pH
If the first morning urine pH is acidic (a pH below 6.4), this indicates the body is in a state of physiological dysregulation and distress due to lack of sufficient minerals which are needed to adequately carry out thousands of basic cellular functions. Our immediate first goal is to restore a consistently alkaline first morning urine pH ( within the range of 6.4 to 7.0) by using fast-acting coral minerals (which are highly ionized and easily absorbed). The next step is to begin testing the evening urine pH (best measured just before the dinner meal around 5 or 6 PM)
The pH Trio
The three synergistic products are Coral Legend, Aloe Drink and Cod Liver Oil. If there is infection in the bone Bone and Joint Complex are added.
Rapid improvement of the pH is seen in most cases when no infection is present. Many Americans over age 30 have a low grade, chronic infection mostly from dental and intestinal infectins. Americans often consume high-protein diets. The heavy protein diets rapidly exhaust the body’s mineral reserves. People who are on high-protein diets show an erratic urine pH in the evening. An evening urine pH that bobs in and out of the alkaline can be a marker of chronic infection. The best approach is to gradually decrease high protein consumption to normal levels eliminating all infections.
HCL Detox Therapy
One of the least expensive and most effective methods to help the body overcome and eliminate chronic infections and immune exhaustion is HCL Detox Therapy. The three products are Betaine HCL, HCL Activator and Digest.

Step 2: Stabilize Hormone Balance

Hormones are internal messengers which are necessary to control and regulate the body’s process. Chronic illiness leads to hormonal exhaustion. The next step is to identify and support the glands which need more support to produce a sufficient amount of their hormones. Hormone deficiency can lead to global body symptoms such as sleep dysregulation, difficulty with the bowels, chronic fatigue, the inability to exercise and can negatively influence literally any organ or gland in the body.
The Most Common Areas Which May Need Support Are:
Pituitary/Hypothalamic Support
If the pituitary is weak or toxic, there may be runaway, allergic-type reactions
Adaptogen provides support for the pituitary neuro-endocrine axis. This product supports to rebalance the entire brain and adrenal neuroendocrine system.
Gold 360 contains the only live, viable stem cell source for cell rejuvenation. It supports the kidneys, adrenals, brain, pituitary, hypothalamus and thyroid.
Adrenal/Pituitary Support
The most common hormonal imbalance is adrenal dysfunction. Adrenal stress is epidemic in America. The adrenals play 3 key roles: 1) fluid balance, 2) helps settle inflammation in the body when needed, 3) provides sufficient energy to et through each day.
When a person doe not get 5 continuous hours of sleep at night, often there will be adrenal exhaustion. Since a key role of the adrenals is to hold moisture in the intestines, when the adrenals are stressed, there may be hard stools for bowel eliminations.
Adrenal Complex is often used together with Adaptogen to support the adrenals and spleen.
Max Stress B Nano-Plex are B vitamins which are used by the adrenals to upregulate adrenal hormone production and by the liver and brain to deliver instantaneous upregulation in their function.
Reproductive Hormone Support
The first goal of natural hormone therapy is to support the hormone-related organs to balance hormone production. The next step is to detoxify the hormone-related organs (especially liver and pituitary) for the most efficient functioning of hormone usage. Lastly, the goal is to keep the body’s hormones in balance by providing the nutrients the body needs to adequately produce its own hormones.
Multi-Pollen Extract
It provides 18 different European pollens (with over 500 different bioflavonoids) for maximum whole-body hormone support. Multi-Pollen support female and male reproductive hormone balance. It also helps strength the bladder to support healthy urination and the prostate.
Thyroid Support
Low thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism) are commonly the result of stress, heavy metal exposure/toxicity, inadequate dietary nutrients, low iodine intake, low progesterone levels.
Because of the key role the thyroid plays in hormone regulation, a toxic thyroid can create create false thyroid suppression. After adequately detoxifying the thyroid, many women who have been on synthetic thyroid medication for years have been able to eliminate these medications.
Thyroid Complex
Often heavy metals, infection and/or radiation damage may impair the thyroid’s function
HM Nano-Detox
HM Nano-Detox an anti-infective formula may be used along with Thyroid Complex as needed to rapidly recover optimal thyroid function and detoxification, especially in heavy metal toxicity.
Super Nano-Green Tea
Super Nano-Green Tea is the most effective radiation detox therapy for the thyroid and parathyroid and is proven support for rapid body recovery from radiation damage.

Step 3: Detoxify the Body

Identify current toxic body burden and begin appropriate detoxification protocols So great is the exposure and bio-accummulation of toxic chemicals, such as heavy metals, pesticide/insecticide residues and industrial chemicals, that detox nutritional support be individualized for each person.
1) Deep Cellular Detoxification
HCL Detox and Activator HCL does deep cellular detoxification and remethylation.
2) Heavy Metal Detoxication
To help cleanse heavy metal deposits from the brain, kidney, bowels, thyroid, and parathyroid.
HM Nano Detox
HM Detox
Pesticide/Insecticide Detoxification
Citrus Pectin helps eliminate the stubborn residues of pesticides, insecticides and other chemical toxins
Kidney Support
Kidney Complex is a blood purifying properties of this extract which helps download the toxic burden on the kidneys and bowels.
Liver/Gallbladder Support
Gallbladder Nanto-Detox
Immunocidin
Max Stress Nano-Plex
Digest
Deep Lymphatic Drainage
Immunocidin degranulates the rock hard type lymph deposits, such as found in the groin or breast area.

Step 4: Eliminate Chronic Infections

More than 1 in 2 people according to the Centers for Disease most Americans are chronically ill. Most chronic illness is really due to infection. We must first identify specific nutritional deficiencies, and the provide therapeutic amounts of quality nutrients to enable the body to heal itself. Next, we must remove as many sources of toxic exposure as possible, detoxify the body of bio-accumulated toxins and use specialty up-regulating nutrients to help the body rapidly overcome infections.
Immune-Specific Support
When the body is fighting infection, all nutrients essential for life need to be generously supplied Super Trio delivers an abundant amount of these nutrients.
Coral Complex
Green Mix
EFA Oil Blend
The Super Trio provides broad-spectrum nutritional support. With the SuperFood Trio as a solid nutritional foundation, we are ready to provide the following for solid immune-specific support:
Broad-Base Immune Support
Colostrum helps support the immune system Nucleotide dead stop colds/flu and reduce injury recovery time up to 67%.
Chronic Immune-Specific Support
Immune Complex is important when the body is dealing with nanobacteria.
Allicidin has a kill rate against a broad-spectrum of infectious organisms.
Biofilm Elimination
Over 99% of all infections are now know to live in biofilms. Biofilms are thick, sticky polysaccharide sacs. When a bilfilm’s mass enlarges greater than 15 mm in diameter, it is beyond the capability of the macrophage’s immune attack and neccessitates the use of biofilm destructive nutrients.
Betaine HCL and HCL Activator
These products eliminate chronic biofilms. If used aggressively, it can elicit strong detox symptoms such as cold/flu symptoms, runny nose, fever, achy joints, etc.)
Allicidin
Allicidin provides gentle biofilm detoxification by delivery of unstable sulfur compunds which reduces the detox load to the kidney and liver

Step 5: Rejuvenate the Body’s System

Lean-Body Whey Protein Blend
Adaptogen Complex
It provides immune-boosting support, delivering increased energy, DNA repair, antioxidant protection and peak performance, including upregulation of the hormones in the brain as well as supporting adrenals
Lean-Body Whey Protein Blend & Adaptogen Complex
These two products together support easy, steady, lasting elimination of body fat, and when combined with exercise, can also help increase muscle mass.
Daily Maintenance Program
The Super Food Trio is designed to deliver every nutrient essential for life.
Coral Complex
Green Mix
EFA Oil Blend
Maximum Stress Support
Maximum Stress Support supplies the B vitamins during high stress periods.
Whole Body Support
Digest
Don’t eat cooked food without it. It spares your digestive power as well as your vital organic acid tissue reserves.
Colostrum
Broad-spectrum DNA protection and immune up regulation.
DHLA Nano-Plex
An antioxidant capable of quenching every known free radical for anti-aging protection, and repair of DNA strand breaks.

What can good nutrition do to your health

Nutrition

nutrition
Good nutrition can help prevent disease and promote health. There are six categories of nutrients that the body needs to acquire from food: protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibers, vitamins and minerals , and water.
Fat
Fat supplies energy and transports nutrients. There are two families of fatty acids considered essential for the body: the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are required by the body to function normally. They can be obtained from canola oil, flaxseed oil, cold-water fish, or fish oil, all of which contain omega-3 fatty acids , and primrose or black currant seed oil, which contains omega-6 fatty acids. The American diet often contains an excess of omega-6 fatty acids and insufficient amounts of omega-3 fats. Increased consumption of omega-3 oils is recommended to help reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer and alleviate symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, premenstrual syndrome , dermatitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are the body’s main source of energy and should be the major part of total daily intake. There are two types of carbohydrates: simple carbohydrates (such as sugar or honey) or complex carbohydrates (such as grains, beans, peas, or potatoes). Complex carbohydrates are preferred because these foods are more nutritious yet have fewer calories per gram compared to fat and cause fewer problems with overeating than fat or sugar. Complex carbohydrates also are preferred over simple carbohydrates by diabetics because they allow better blood glucose control.
Fiber
Fiber is the material that gives plants texture and support. Although it is primarily made up of carbohydrates, it does not have a lot of calories and is usually not broken down by the body for energy. Dietary fiber is found in plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains.
There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber, as the name implies, does not dissolve in water because it contains high amount of cellulose. Insoluble fiber can be found in the bran of grains, the pulp of fruit and the skin of vegetables. Soluble fiber is the type of fiber that dissolves in water. It can be found in a variety of fruits and vegetables such as apples, oatmeal and oat bran, rye flour, and dried beans.
Although they share some common characteristics such as being partially digested in the stomach and intestines and have few calories, each type of fiber has its own specific health benefits. Insoluble fiber speeds up the transit of foods through the digestive system and adds bulk to the stools, therefore, it is the type of fiber that helps treat constipation or diarrhea and prevents colon cancer. On the other hand, only soluble fiber can lower blood cholesterol levels. This type of fiber works by attaching itself to the cholesterol so that it can be eliminated from the body. This prevents cholesterol from recirculating and being reabsorbed into the bloodstream. In 2003, the World Health Organization released a new report specifically outlining the link of a healthy diet rich in high-fiber plant foods to preventing cancer.
nutritionVitamins and minerals
Vitamins are organic substances present in food and required by the body in a small amount for regulation of metabolism and maintenance of normal growth and functioning. The most commonly known vitamins are A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cobalamin), C (ascorbic acid), D, E, and K. The B and C vitamins are watersoluble, excess amounts of which are excreted in the urine. The A, D, E, and K vitamins are fat-soluble and will be stored in the body fat.
Minerals are vital to our existence because they are the building blocks that make up muscles, tissues, and bones. They also are important components of many life-supporting systems, such as hormones, oxygen transport, and enzyme systems.
There are two kinds of minerals: the major (or macro) minerals and the trace minerals. Major minerals are the minerals that the body needs in large amounts. The following minerals are classified as major: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, sulfur, and chloride. They are needed to build muscles, blood, nerve cells, teeth, and bones. They also are essential electrolytes that the body requires to regulate blood volume and acid-base balance.
Unlike the major minerals, trace minerals are needed only in tiny amounts. Even though they can be found in the body in exceedingly small amounts, they are also very important to the human body. These minerals participate in most chemical reactions in the body. They also are needed to manufacture important hormones. The following are classified as trace minerals: iron, zinc, iodine, copper, manganese, fluoride, chromium, selenium, molybdenum, and boron.
Many vitamins (such as vitamins A, C, and E) and minerals (such as zinc, copper, selenium, or manganese) act as antioxidants. They protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals. They scavenge or mop up these highly reactive radicals and change them into inactive, less harmful compounds. In so doing, these essential nutrients help prevent cancer and many other degenerative diseases, such as premature aging , heart disease, autoimmune diseases, arthritis, cataracts , Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes mellitus.
Water
Water helps to regulate body temperature, transports nutrients to cells, and rids the body of waste materials.
The Quest For Ideal Health
To reach a state of optimal health, most people must first overcome their chronic health problems, such as joint stiffness, muscle aches, asthma, allergies, high blood pressure and all the itis’s such as arthritis, prostatitis, urethritis, cystitis, diverticulitis, hepatitis, sinusitis. In 2000, according to the Center for Disease Control, more than 1 out of 2 Americans was labeled as chronically ill and that figure has continued to get worst as each year passes
Developing the 5-Step Protocol
  1. Restore an Alkaline Body pH
  2. Normalize Hormone Balance
  3. Detoxify the Body
  4. Eliminate Chronic Infections
  5. Rejuvenate the Body’s Systems

What Health Conditions Can Auriculotherapy Help?

Because every part of the external ear connects through the microsystems remote reflexes to very part of the body, a wide variety of health problems are relieved by auriculotherapy. Almost all health conditions can be affected to some degree by stimulating reactive ear points.

Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body. It is also called ear acupuncture Specific points on the ear can also be stimulated by manual pressure, needles, magnets, laser, and/or infra red light. Auriculotherapists believe that healing processes can be promoted by working with these points on the ear, because the ear contains many blood vessels and nerve endings that, when stimulated, influence the organs and bodily functions.

What is Peripheral Neuropathy?

WhatisNeuropathy-pagebanner

Neuropathy is a term for a series of disorders that result from damage to the body’s peripheral nervous system, which is the nervous system of the legs, arms, hands and feet.
#Peripheral #Neuropathy  is a condition that develops as a result of damage to the peripheral nervous system — the vast communications net- work that transmits information between the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and every other part of the body. Neuropathy means nerve disease or damage. Symptoms can range from numbness or tingling, to pricking sensations (paresthesia), or muscle weakness.
In Diabetic Neuropathy, one of the most common forms of peripheral neuropathy, nerve damage occurs in an ascending pattern. The first nerve fibers to malfunction are the ones that travel the furthest from the brain and the spinal cord. Pain and numbness often are felt symmetrically in both feet followed by a gradual progression up both legs. Later, the fingers, hands, and arms may become affected.
Diabetic-Neuropathy

What type of nerves that are affected with Neuropathy?

  • Sensory nerves
  • Motor nerves
  • Autonomic nerves
Peripheral nerves send sensory information back to the brain and spinal cord, that the feet are cold. Peripheral nerves also carry signals to the muscles to generate movement. Damage to the peripheral nervous system interferes with these vital connections. Like static on a telephone line, peripheral neuropathy distorts and sometimes interrupts messages between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body.

Neuropathy Signs and Symptoms

  • The nerves that control sensation
  • When nerve is effected it causes
  • Tingling and numbness
  • Increased pain or loss of ability to feel pain
  • Pins and needles and hypersensitivity
  • Weakness in the hands and feet
  • Loss of ability to detect changes of heat and cold
  • Loss of co-ordination and proprioception
  • Burning, stabbing, lancing, boring or shooting pains-which may be worst at night
  • Skin, hair or nail changes
  • Foot and leg ulcers, infection and gangrene
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Blurred vision
  • Heat intolerance or decreased ability to sweat
  • Hypoglycemia unawareness

How to Diagnose Neuropathy?

Taking a complete Medical History by your doctor
Symptoms
General Health
Any history of Neuropathy in the family
Any current or recent medications.
Any exposure of poisons (toxins)
Alcohol consumption
Sexual history

What to look for in a Neuropathy Exam?

  • Looking at the skin thoroughly
  • Testing vibration
  • Tendon reflexes
  • Muscle Tone and strength
  • Coordination and Posture
  • Checking the pulse and oxygen level

Natural Treatments like health lights, supplements, acupuncture, whole body vibration, electrical stimulation and chiropractic adjustment will help with Peripheral Neuropathy.

Detox: Is it for you?

" Detoxification" is a naturally occurring process that the body is designed to perform to rid the body of waste products that occur as part of normal metabolism. In addition, it works to rid the body of toxic elements that are inhaled or consumed from the foods we eat and the environment around us. Detox diets have become very popular for many different maladies from cancer to weight loss. There are many different programs, but most of them involve very low caloric intake, with addition of fruits and vegetables, water and supplements. In theory, once "free" of toxins, your body functions better and your metabolism performs more efficiently which may help shed those extra pounds or fight off disease.
The problem herein lies in that many of these diets are not balanced diets and some supplements can force the body to detox too much and too fast. Experts agree that there is no credible science to validate claims that detox diets work. There are no studies available to document the benefits; instead, most claims are based on testimonials. Most of the positive testimonials can be easily explained. Many who use these detox diets are simply cutting out the plethora of processed foods, fast foods and sugar laden foods that burden the body. It doesn't take a PhD to know they are going to "feel" better when they get off of these poor quality foods. However, some of these diets are pretty extreme and potentially dangerous.
Long term fasting will leave you in a severe energy and protein deficient state. The body will then be forced to turn to stored body fat and muscle protein for fuel which can lead to excessive muscle breakdown and nutrient deficiencies. This will ultimately have a negative impact on metabolic rate which is the rate at which the body heals and repairs and determines how fast chemical reactions occur including calories burned.
So what causes the buildup of toxins? Toxins can come from the food we ingest, the water we drink, the air we breathe, the chemicals used in everyday jobs and chores and even the home we live in. This list can go on and on. It is important to remember that it is impossible to remove every harmful chemical from the body and there is no perfectly "clean" place on Earth to live. Yet, this human body we've each been given is designed to handle a certain amount of toxicity…the health problems start to occur in the case of toxic overload, poor nutritional status and the individual's ability or inability to excrete the toxic elements. There are some tests you can do to help you become more aware of toxic elements in your environment and evaluate your ability to excrete them efficiently. This can be an important factor for your long term health. We will elaborate on those tests next month in Part 2 of

"Detoxing: Is it for you?"
Your body is continuously "detoxing" or cleaning itself as part of the normal metabolic functions of the liver, kidneys, colon, skin, blood and lymphatic system. These harmful chemicals are filtered and flushed out in the urine or feces. However, if you are deficient in essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium the body will store toxic metals in their place (3).

  • Calcium is replaced by lead, which deposits primarily in bone, and disrupts the formation of red blood cells. Lead toxicity can contribute to anemia and lead to osteopenia and osteoporosis.
  • Zinc is replaced by cadmium, which tends to accumulate heavily in your kidneys. Cadmium overload is associated with peripheral neuropathy.
  • Magnesium is replaced by aluminum, which, among other things, induces neurochemical changes and has been identified as a contributing factor to developing Alzheimer's.
  • Manganese is replaced by nickel, which is carcinogenic.
Not only do our bodies have to deal with heavy metals such as lead, arsenic and mercury but there is increased burden because of exposure to pesticides. Over 98% of sprayed insecticides and 95% of herbicides reach a destination other than their target species, including non-target species (humans), air, water and soil.(1) The United States Environmental Protection Service states, "Pesticide exposure can cause a variety of adverse health effects. These effects can range from simple irritation of the skin and eyes to more severe effects such as affecting the nervous system, mimicking hormones causing reproductive problems, and also causing cancer" (2). According to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, 9 of the 12 most dangerous and persistent organic chemicals are pesticides (3). Many of the breakdown products of pesticides are even more toxic than the parent compounds. To make matters worse, according to West Kootenay Airshed Protection organization, "The pesticide labeling law unfortunately does not require manufacturers to list inert ingredients, and 'trade secrets' allow them to avoid disclosure to customers, so you cannot tell by reading a product label whether a pesticide contains an endocrine-disrupting ingredient" (4).
Your indoor air may be more harmful than the outdoor air. Pesticides that break down within days outdoors may last for years in carpets, where they are protected from degradation caused by sunlight and bacteria5. Most alarming, the common pesticides used on lawns and farms are shown in medical research to accelerate damage of the immune and nervous system, leading to serious health problems years after exposure.
You cannot be optimally healthy unless you address toxic elements in your environment. There are certain tests you can do to determine toxic elements in you environment, your ability to excrete such toxic elements and monitor their effects on your health. Look for Part 2 of "Detoxing" coming next month where we'll elaborate on this topic. Can't wait? Getting a comprehensive blood analysis and appropriate toxic element testing will not only define your state of health but will allow an expert to advise you on specific amounts of vitamins and minerals you need to be healthier and if "detoxing" should be a concern for you. Did you know that many Hollywood Stars involve cupping therapy in their healthy routine? What do you know about cupping and the benefits?

Cupping is one of the oldest methods of traditional Chinese medicine and is a form of alternative medicine in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. Cupping pulls stagnation out of tissues bringing these to the skin level. The pores expand discharging some of these wastes and toxins, the rest is then more accessible to the body's circulatory system where it can be flushed out and brings revitalized and fresh blood to the stagnant areas,  enabling a deeper nourishment.

There are various types of cupping therapy. We at the Alderson Clinic of Chiropractic use fixed cupping, using small plastic cups as suction devices, placing them on the skin. Once the suction has occurred, the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawing into the cup. Instead of applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. It is a relaxing and relieving sensation. The cups are placed for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes. Cupping like acupuncture follows the lines of meridians. Using these meridians points can help to align and relax, mobilizing the blood flow in order to promote healing and clearing congestion.

PREGNANCY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION

Whether it is your first pregnancy, your third pregnancy, or you are trying to get pregnant, nothing is more important for you at this time in your life than you and your baby’s health.  There is an abundance of information out there from books, magazines, articles, and the internet that can be helpful guides to follow for a healthy pregnancy.  But at times you may find that they contradict each other or come to find out that it is just a sales pitch.  So where do you go for the most accurate information on how to eat right, take the correct supplements, and avoid potential toxicities?  Nothing tells you the truth more so than your own individualized testing.  Before you start any supplement program it is important to get tested properly by an experienced nutritionist.  However, there are some main guidelines that every pregnant woman should follow in which mostly are agreed upon by both the medical community and the holistic approaches.  Let’s take a further look into the nutrients which we are speaking of.

High Potency Multiple with Iron

When purchasing a Multiple Vitamin look at the other ingredients at the bottom of the label. Are there artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, saccharin or sucrose? Are there artificial colors or dyes such as FD&C blue #1 or yellow #6? How about artificial preservatives? If it contains any of these ingredients, put it back on the shelf.  Acceptable sweeteners are sucrose, fructose, stevia or xylitol. Monitor yourself for a few days when you start to take a new MVM. If you have stomach upset, it could be the sweetener being used.

Remember that a supplement is not a substitution for eating healthy foods nor is it a replacement for foods.  It is, in fact, to enhance the quality of your food and correct nutritional deficiencies caused by years of sub-optimal eating and environmental exposures. Take your Multiple Vitamin with meals to avoid upset stomach.
#Iron is recommended to be included in the Multiple Vitamin for the prevention of #anemia and can be significant for #mothers who are deficient.  Anemia during pregnancy is especially a concern because it is associated with low #birth weight, premature birth and maternal mortality. (1)  Pregnant women are at higher risk for developing anemia during pregnancy because the body produces and excess amount of blood to help provide nutrients to the baby.  Types of anemia during pregnancy include:
  • Iron deficiency (accounts for 15% to 25%)
  • Folate deficiency
  • B12 deficiency
Before you purchase your multiple with Iron you want to check your Iron and Ferritin levels first.  You can do this with a simple blood test.  Ferritin, your back up supply for Serum Iron, can have a tendency to be too high in individuals.  These women may not need Iron.

Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue: A Drug-Free (Natural) Approach in Houston

The big question here is, "Why aren't my joints and muscles healing and repairing?" or "Why is my body not willing to allocate nutrients toward energy and joint and muscle repair?". Do you think your body has more important things to do with those nutrients? Maybe there is some more important internal function that needs the extra nutrients right now and the body is not going to waste those valuable nutrients on non-essential tissue. Yes, you read correctly. Your joints, muscles and energy level are non-essential to the body. Your body needs to make sure your brain, heart and liver function, kidney function, immune system, etc are optimized and as a result of significant problems to these areas, it will break down your muscles, bones and joints to free up nutrients and protein to be used for more important bodily function! So, if you're not getting the nutrients your body needs from your diet, guess what's going to happen! But, how do you know which nutrients you're deficient in?
We understand that the key to overcoming Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome lies in the testing. Proper testing will identify major and minor key elements of imbalance and deficiency, environmental toxicities, stress and physical structure, abnormal organ functions, digestive disorders, and much more. Through careful examination and analysis, and by addressing these conditions, we can help you know what lifestyle changes you need to make in order for your body to heal itself and restore your health. What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is inserting and manipulating filiform needles into designated points on the body to restore health and treat pain and disease. Acupuncture has been practiced in the USA for more than 150 years but it was not until President Nixon returned from his trip to China in the 70's that there was a boom in popularity. In 1971, New York Times political analyst, James Reston had an appendectomy in Beijing using ONLY acupuncture for anesthesia and to reduce pain post surgically with moxa (Chinese herb often burned over specific needle points or on top of the needle).
After this phase of the consultation is completed, treatment can begin that same day or be scheduled for a future visit. Typical treatment protocols will include the use of traditional Acupuncture body points including but not limited to auriculo (ear) or even scalp points. Duration of an average treatment usually lasts approximately 20 minutes.
About:Dr. John Alderson, DC, CCN received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He has been involved in chiropractic, acupuncture, auricular therapy and nutrition for the past 33 years.

How pollution and the many toxins that we are surrounded by can affect our health

There are many reasons behind hormonal imbalances that we do not have control over.  The xenoestrogens and the environmental factors such as pollution and the many toxins that we are surrounded by can affect us.  Endocrine disruptors are a category of chemicals that alter the normal function of hormones.  Normally, our endocrine system releases hormones that signal different tissues telling them what to do.  Chemicals have the ability to mimic our natural hormones. This is particularly harmful to hormone sensitive organs like the uterus and the breast, and the immune system.

The types of endocrine disruptors that we do have control over and that we can determine is what we need to focus on.  Excess weight for instance can cause hormonal imbalance because fat cells produce Estrogen, the type of estrogen that is most carcinogenic or cancer causing.  This unhealthy estrogen ratio makes your more estrogen dominant.  Other effects of estrogen imbalances are mood swings, weak bones, lack of lubrication, and even diabetes.
Iodine deficiencies can lead to increased sensitivity of the breast tissue to estrogen.  This causes estrogen production to increase because Iodine helps the body to metabolize estrogens to favor the safer form of estrogen which is called estriol.  Balance of estrogens is impossible to maintain in an iodine deficient state.  Iodine levels can be tested for and can be an easy fix with the right diagnosis.

Dairy accounts for 60-80% of estrogens consumed.  Dairy products containing cow’s milk contains a considerable amount of female sex hormones.  Get this… “Part of the problem seems to be milk from modern dairy farms, where cows are milked about 300 days a year. For much of that time, the cows are pregnant. The later in pregnancy a cow is, the more hormones appear in her milk.  Milk from a cow in the late stage of pregnancy contains up to 33 times as much of a signature estrogen compound (estrogen sulfate) than milk from a non-pregnant cow.”

Other ways to reduce endocrine disruptors would be to read ingredient labels.  There are many products that can affect our natural hormone balance which we can avoid just by detecting them in the foods we eat.  For instance, Bromide is often found in bakery products.  Bromide has been shown to exacerbate Iodine deficiency which we discussed earlier.  Fluoride can also bind to Iodine receptors and in the presence of Iodine deficiency, can worsen its affects.  Fluoride is found in your water supply, toothpaste, and oral rinses.

The balancing act of hormones is not an easy one.  Like mentioned before, every woman is different and will go through menopause at a different age.  However, there are many factors that you can do to promote the body’s natural cycle without experiencing a lot of side effects.  Many deficiencies and toxicities can be determined by comprehensive blood testing and a tissue mineral analysis.  With the proper testing and the right guidance by your experienced practitioner, women can achieve optimal health and make the right lifestyle changes to promote a more natural and safer hormone balance.  For more information about hormones see our Newsletter section on our website.  Remember, drastic changes won’t be seen overnight.  Proper testing is key.  However, here are some basic supplements for support:
  • B-Complex (50mg)
  • Calcium (500mg: MCHC, Lactate or Citrate)
  • Magnesium (200mg: glycinate or taurate)
  • Vitamin D3 (5000IU: cholecalciferol)
  • GLA (borage oil) (240mg)
  • Fish oil (500mg of Omega 3’s)
  • Boron (get tested)
  • Iodine (get tested…individual supplementation should only be implemented when test results determine the need)

Do you know how to get through menopause the natural way?

Many women dread the anticipated symptoms of menopause. They fear the potential hot flashes, weight gain, bloating, memory loss, or night sweats. Every woman is different and will approach menopause at different ages. However, you can experience what is called “early menopause” as young as in your mid-thirties. However, there is no reason to fear this change in your life. If you take the proper steps before your body goes through these natural changes, emotional and physical health can be affected. It is important to take care of the body prior to these changes for the best outcome.

As you approach your mid to late 30’s, hormones begin to change as your egg supply gradually decreases.  You may start noticing shortened menstrual cycles or different PMS symptoms.  The estrogen and progesterone levels will fluctuate and then eventually your estrogen levels will drop till you have no menstrual periods.  These are normal menopausal symptoms.  Abnormal menopausal symptoms are the hot flashes, weight gain, undesirable hair growth, dry skin and hair, bloating, you know…all the “symptoms” we are supposed to fear. Hormonal imbalance is what makes these symptoms abnormal.
There are many reasons behind hormonal imbalances that we do not have control over.
